2/10/16 - DUDE. When I say I was amazed, bro, I. WAS. AMAZED. Viewing all the acts that followed me after my performance was one of the most special things I've ever witnessed. From the passion of The Tribe, to the smoothness of rhymes from Yogi & Krave; From the banging vibes of KMB, to the powerful words of Matty B - I was amazed. Such talented individuals. But, one thing that stood out to me was the headliner: PZA PRTY. As my previous post, I stated that they are the most talented guys I've seen and after the performance that night, I have been proven correct. What was even more awesome is that the whole entire lineup was on one accord. No one was trying to overshadow anyone else. No one thought about their own profit, but the profit of everyone. The love and energy of the show was impeccable. Thank you PZA PRTY for giving me a platform to perform the best performance of my music career. Also, thank you Marshawn for giving more reason to kill it.
2/9/16 - On this day, I got the worst news ever. Marshawn McCarrel shot himself in front of the Ohio Statehouse that evening. I was numb. I was in utter shock. No words could have expressed how i felt that night. Though this tragedy made me feel like all hope was gone, I stopped thinking about the loss and thought about what was gained. Marshawn wanted to give his community the opportunity to do something with their lives. He wanted us to LIVE. Marshawn was a poet and he passed in the most poetic and rebellious way. He wanted us to finally get the picture that we are much more than what society makes of our people and that we shouldn't settle for less than what we deserve and then some. Though his life ended the dream is still alive. We will continue to POD fam and we shall soon see the changes you tried so hard to obtain. Rest easy thug. Much love to you.
1/23/2016 - One thing's for sure is that my homie Dwight is one of the most talented guys that I have been able to have the pleasure of meeting. From the energy that he gives to the story of his life, he truly is a testimony of what pushing through circumstances can reward you. The most valuable thing that I could say that he possesses is faith. A very good friend of mine said that "faith is a gift." And some people don't possess that gift to stay faithful during storms in our lives. During his video shoot for his new single "Young Kids," I could already tell that what he stands for is much bigger than himself. God definitely is using him to capture those who are lost and may not have the strength to move forward. Though it was my first time meeting him in person, I'm sure it won't be the last time we link up. His project "Runaway" is soon to be released Feb. 5th. And bruh, I already pre-ordered it., so should you.
01/21/2015 - Last night I met up with Dave, Josh and Dallas, also known as the dopest production band PZA PRTY. Spent about 3-4 hours speaking about our dreams, influences, and their comical names for unfinished projects they started. (lol) And as I was talking to them about how they create music and also how skeptical they are about people "in the scene," I noticed how much they reminded me of myself a few years back. Their ambition, aspirations, and willingness to not conform really shows in their craft. After speaking with them, I knew without a doubt that they were onto something. Can't wait to make more art with these amazing fellas.
1/22/2016 - When I say that I was blown away, that would be an understatement. My homie Correy really set the bar for other local, better yet, rappers in general, to really get on their stuff. His listening party showcased how much love the city of Columbus has for not just him, but for one another. It was amazing to see so many different people gather in unity and was able to celebrate something someone has worked so hard to produce. It made my heart smile to see people genuinely happy to see each other. Also, this project is C R A Z Y ! From beat selection to the content, there is definitely a friendly competition being created among Ohio artists and it's all because of this guy. He's definitely the one to compete with. =)
1/14/16 - As you can see consistency is one of toughest things for me. SO to make sure I'm on task with everything, I have made a schedule that can keep me on track. As far as the goals I made for myself, this definitely would help achieve them. I have to stay organized and make sure that my time is managed the right way. I also wanted to start reading more. Possibly reading a couple pages a day instead of being on twitter the whole time. (lol) So cheers to staying consistent to other important things in my life other than music, i.e. my health, my spirit and most definitely my finances. (lol) wish me luck. =)
1/4/2016 - I can't be the only one that always makes goals for themselves and does everything in their power to cross it off that list. Well, for me I had accomplished a few things last year that really stands out to me. Like whoa! How tf did that happen? I was blessed enough to receive a gift card from my old bosses to Guitar Center and was able to purchase a piece of equipment that I'd been eyeing for the longest time: Novation Launchpad Pro. It's crazy because a simply prayer turns into truth. I guess what I'm getting at is, you can get whatever you set your mind to get. So if you want blessings, put yourself in the right position to receive them. I didn't get the gift card because of my looks, my bosses recognized my hard work and blessed me with something. So in the end, God always blesses you through the kindness of others..
1/2/2016 - So, last night my homie Josh came over and was shooting some footage of my roommate's record player. Interesting enough he actually showed me a lot of things I would have not thought of when it comes to the visual aspects of art in motion, or film. (haha) After he was done shooting, we talked for a while and he showed me old videos of him playing guitar. Crazy how super humble he is and how God has blessed him with so many talents. He also told me that his old band The Crimson Armada is going to play a reunion show in March! I'm soooooo stoked to see him play. To hear all of the nice things people have said since the announcement of them reuniting, it definitely has inspired me to continue to push towards the goals I have and allow God to work. If anything, I have seen it manifest with Josh's life, so who knows what God has in store for me...
